Cacooca x Mighty Jaxx – “Huat The Fuck!” for STGCC 2017!!!

Cuddling up with his cats all day is getting mundane for our adventurous Panda who decided it was time to stretch some muscles and work those lazy bones. Watching the kids in his neighborhood riding their skateboards in the park, Panda was hit with the idea of learning a trick or two himself! Panda definitely wasn’t going to settle for just any ordinary skateboard. After going through all the skate shops in town, he finally struck gold with a board that was bound to turn heads. With his golden skateboard in hand and a badass attitude, cruise alongside Panda as he takes to the streets in search of his next adventure!

Releasing from Mighty Jaxx and created by Cacooca as part of his continued ‘Panda Ink’ line of figures, “Huat The Fuck!” will be up for grabs at STGCC 2017 via the Mighty Jaxx Stand: D3… and according to Mighty Jaxx, this figure will be BIGGER and better then the rest, Hmmmmm… what does that even mean?!?! More soon…

Haroshi’s Wooden Sculptures Carved Out Of Skateboard Decks!

Ranging in size from 3⅘- to 21-inches in height, the Japanese artist Haroshi crafted more than 20 original pieces for his recent Guzo solo exhibition at the Nanzuka gallery in Tokyo. Each humanoid statuette has the feel of being a tribal idol, but is kept modern through their stances, facial expressions, and, of course, the medium they are carved out of: skateboard decks. It’s a fascinating process that the artist has been developing for over a dozen years, which I really got a chance to explore in my newest exhibition report on CoART Magazine, which can be read HERE.

Amanda Visell & Michelle Valigura’s GID “Crash-Land Bat” & “Robot & Fox” Resin Sets!

The duo of Amanda Visell & Michelle Valigura have brought forth some truly glowing renditions of their designs… glow-in-the-dark versions of their recent “Crash-Land Bat” design and the return of the “Robot & Fox” sets! Hand-cast in resin from an original sculpt, hand-painted by the artists, and limited to only 10 sets for each design, these roughly 3½-inch tall pieces are available right now in the myswitcheroo online shop for $90 per set.

Amanda Visell & Michelle Valigura’s Skateboarding “Crash-Land Bat” Resin Set!

In my youth I tried to skateboard on several occasions, all of them ending with me flat on the ground. But, at least, I never landed directly on my head… Amanda Visell & Michelle Valigura‘s “Crash-Land Bat” is obviously unsatisfied with flight for transport and has been experimenting with skateboarding, though his deck has cracked in half. And while this 3½-inch tall bat is upside down, he’s not sleeping nor hanging from a tree, he’s planted on the ground with the top of his head smooshed completely flat! Hand-cast in resin from an original sculpt, these sets are limited to 25 handpainted sets and are available right now in the myswitcheroo online shop for $90 per set.

Hop on your board and ride with… Fluffy House’s “Skater Cloud!”

Cursed with poor coordination, I was never capable of really partaking in skateboarding, but that didn’t mean I didn’t appreciate the skill of those I knew that could do it! So imagine my shame in learning that Hong Kong-based Fluffy House‘s “Mr. White Cloud” is such an avid skateboard fanatic that he can look apathetic while doing it. Yup, he doesn’t even have to look where he’s going! Standing 5½-inches tall, this “Skater Cloud” (aka Cloudy Style) vinyl figure comes complete with his own fingerboard and is limited to an edition of only 100 pieces. Available exclusively from Rotofugi, this release will be available on Wednesday, July 20th, 2016 at 6pm Pacific time not only from SDCC Booth #5248 ($60 tax included) but also from Rotofugi.com ($55).

Mark Gonzales × Medicom Toy’s “Angel” Soft Vinyl Figure!

While mass manufactured, these are still extremely limited and available in two colors: yellow and red. Available from Medicom directly and from Atmos stores, these almost 6-inch tall “Angel” pieces will set you back ¥7,800 (approx. $78) apiece.

*UPDATE* Gary Ham’s “Quarter Pipe” Wood Mini Figure Prototype?!?

Earlier this month, we shared with you HERE a quick little sketch that artist Gary Ham had posted stating that he had plans to take his “QuarterPipe” design from being a sketch to a production piece… and today, he shared with us the prototype figure that he plans on send over to the factory to recreate and produce! Standing 3.25″ tall, this little figure looks super cute and hopefully Gary will continue to post updates on the process of making these!
