EVOLUTION… that’s what was posted with this photo you see in this post, and thanks to Pobber Toys and FlabSlab, it appears that they will be bringing a new edition of their “Supreme Leader Lil’ Kimmy” bust to STGCC 2017! Standing proud, and very GREEN/GOLD, no word on what they have planned, but we do know these will be at the Pobber booth AA104,106 – so yeah, be sure to swing by! Capitalizing on the lifestyle brand ‘SUPREME’ along with North Korea’s dicktator, Kim Jong-un – the 2 have been mashed together to create this 9″ tall resin bust!
I am continually impressed with the creative concepts and clean shapes of twelveDot‘s sculptures, so when the third exhibition to focus on his “Roadkill” design was announced, I got excited. Inviting an array of artists to alter and/or hand-paint the figure produced by Pobber Toys, this “Roadkill”-centric show did something the others before did not: it paired one of twelveDot’s “APO Frog” creations with each “Roadkill” piece! Having taken place at the Wrong Gallery in Taipei, I wasn’t lucky enough to actually attend this event, but I was able to get photos of the show from the gallery, which are the basis for my newest article on CoART Magazine, which can be read HERE.
After our initial teaser post HERE back in March of 2017, we are delighted to announce that the “Supreme Leader Lil’ Kimmy” bust collaboration between FLABSLAB and Pobber Toys is set to release HERE this coming Friday, June 16th at 7am PST! Standing proud, and very GOLD, these will retail for $300 a pop. Capitalizing on the lifestyle brand ‘SUPREME’ along with North Korea’s dicktator, Kim Jong-un – the 2 have been mashed together to create this 9″ tall bust! We are unsure on the type of material used (resin/vinyl)… but as the date draws closer, we are sure this info will emerge.
Are you mad that you missed the newest installment in Scott Tolleson‘s foodie toy series, namely the adorably shy little dumpling named “Bao” who debuted at Thailand Toy Expo? I mean, who could pass up the glittery golden hued sofubi goodness of the “Little Sparle” edition? Well, now you don’t need to… This almost 4-inch tall figure, which comes packaged in his very own bamboo steamer-inspired box, is now available online at pobber.bigcartel.com for $35 apiece!
Scott Tolleson and Pobber are finally ready to release their most recent collaboration, BAO, as he makes his debut in the all new “Little Sparkle” edition for Thailand Toy Expo! Standing 3.5″ tall and made from the freshest sofubi goodness, this little dude features a wonderful looking matte black hoodie along with black details on top of a gold glitter infused body. No word on a price or quantity, but we estimate that they will retail anywhere from $35-$50 a pop. Hopefully some will come stateside… they are super cute!
RxSeven is jetset once again, and after a successful showing at ToyCon, he makes his way to Thailand for TTE 2017! Teaming up with the good folks over at Pobber, RxSeven created the badass customs that you see above, a micro-run of what he is calling “Stargazer: Mork’d up”… and how rad do those look?!?! Using the MORK vinyl body – originally created by MAD – RxSeven used his resin skull and place it atop this body… for the perfect match. Limited to only 5 pieces, these will be available at Dazzle Zone Booth #D04 – where not only can you pick up this custom, but meet RX as well! Have fun, folks – this convention just got upgraded with the addition of these pieces!
Released last year at Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention (STGCC), the all black edition (posted HERE) of Cote Escriva’s “Twisted Bart” was released thanks to Pobber Toys… and now, the Treehouse-of-Horror’esque homage of zombified mash-up of Bart Simpson’s overall form with Spongebob Squarepants’s face and Mickey Mouse’s lower torso with a singular Donald Duck leg thrown in for fun… will see the light of day as a full colored edition! The new “Twisted Bart: SpongeBart” edition is revealed!!! No word on a specific release date, or any other details other than “coming soon” – be on the lookout for a drop in the near future! A true art toy inspired by pop culture, this takes the elements of preconceived characters and rearranges them into a new form, one that shows the nightmarish reality frequently hidden underneath a cartoonish veneer.
Introducing the “Blown Away Skullhead Samurai” – Josh Mayhem’s contribution to the Skullhead Samurai Custom Show happening this Friday, March 24th at 7pm hosted by FLABSLAB in Singapore. Using his signature “Blown Away” style, Josh has depicted this warrior to be fighting, and slicing his way through a glittery rainbow maelstrom. Make sure you attend if you are around the FLABSLAB gallery as the artist list is DEEP, including: 13 Art, 2Petalrose, Bananavirus, Brent Nolasco, Cacooca, Candie Bolton, Caramelaw, Carson Catlin, Egg Fiasco, Fakir, FLABSLAB, Frank Montano, HXstudio Toys, Ink Visuals, J*ryu, Jan Calleja, Jenn & Tony Bot, Jon-Paul Kaiser, Josh Mayhem, Kumkum, Le Kuo, Quiccs, Richard Page, RXSeven, Scott Tolleson, Shonside, Trigger Design, twelveDot, Watchparts and Wetworks. The only time you’ve ever been able to see the spry, diminuative Yoda engage in a duel with the imposing, armored form of Darth Vader has been in Star Wars video games, but that hasn’t stopped artist twelveDot from depicting these classic characters together — lightsabers at the ready — with his “Return of the Samurai” piece. Using a green copy of his own “APO Frog” piece as the Jedi Master and rebuilding a Jon-Paul Kaiser & Huck Gee designed “Skullhead Samurai” as the Dark Lord himself, this is a one-of-a-king art piece for the forthcoming Skullhead Samurai Custom Art Show from Pobber Toys & FlabSlab. On display at the exhibition’s opening on March 24th, 2017 at 7pm local time at FlabSlab (1 Commonwealth Lane, #06-11 One Commonwealth, Singapore 149544), those unable to attend — like myself — will surely be sad to be unable to add this fantastic handmade set to their collection.
“Skullhead Samurai” is a stunning collaboration between Jon-Paul Kaiser and Huck Gee, which was produced by Pobber Toys, will now be the focus of its own exhibition.
