WHO-R-U? custom group show at Mothership Gallery!!!

MikeFX has teamed up with Playful Gorilla and the Mothership Art Gallery to host the “Who-R-U” custom group art show… and now, it’s not focused on the legendary band The Who… rather, a new blank figure from MikeFX. All of the fantastic pieces featured in  this show are customs on Mike’s ‘WHO-R-U’ blank resin figure, a pretty amazing figure by itself, but what the artists did to this piece really make it shine.

The cast of characters includes: MIKEFX, ABSURD TOYS, RENONE, NAPTIME NOAH, BIGC, DR BARBADOS, PLAYFUL GORILLA, WASTED TALENT, MR MARS, OBSCURE, JAMS, NERVISWR3K, HUNGRYGHOST, RYAN BENITO SOTO, FETTUP TOYS, SHINOBI STINKS, BOY IN THE CORNER, SERG AND DESTROY, GOREILLA, RICH STROHMEYER, KINDNUGGETS, WIREWOLF, RICK SANS, TWENTY HEADS, THE 3D HERO, FIREHEAD DESIGNS, DADS CARTOONS, JOE WHITEFORD, BIZARRE O VISION, BROBOT TOYS, INPRIMEWETRUST, DERF BUNNY, THAT RED KID… yeah, talk about a ton of talent all under one roof! This is going down tonight, Saturday, August 26th at Mothership Gallery in Philadelphia… be there or be square!

Boy in the Corner Studio reveals ‘Designer Toy Summit’ exclusives!

So the Designer Toy Summit is here real soon – and we have been given the chance to show you the work of one our favorite artists who will be featuring 4 new stunning pieces of work at the event on March 18th in Memphis at the Agricenter. Boy in the Corner Studio (AKA artist Heath Duntz) has been a constant companion of mine online for the past couple of years, and the guy is as real as it gets. When Heath Duntz says he has something new which is going to make your brain itch, he means it and he delivers. This time round he doesn’t just bring one piece of work, he brings 4 pieces of work – and each piece is a stunner. This is the beginning of a series of figures called The Alchemists, and this is how you start a collection with a bang.

First up is “The Hunter” which is based on the platform of a Huck Gee Skullslinger.  This is a hand sculpted custom and base which contains real bone elements, and all accessories are magnetically attached and interchangeable.

Second is “The Test Subject” which incredibly is based on a Vinyl Idolz base and a Huck Gee 4″ blank and looks amazing. This guy looks like he has possibly made some bad decisions over time…

Third is “The Initiate” and again Heath has done some incredible work sculpting on top of another Vinyl Idolz base and Huck Gee 4″ blank, creating a really strong stand out character piece.

Finally the fourth piece (which for no strong reason I can give you is my favorite piece) “The Elder” – Heath has used the now classic David Flores Deathshead Mickey for the base of this one.  This piece is incredible and is the piece that leaves me wanting more… Go track down the Mothership Gallery booth at the Designer Toy Summit and grab one of these pieces while you can.

Are you ready to rock?!?! “Metal Yeti” is!!!

Lisa Rae Hansen of ‘I BREAK TOYS‘ is up to her bad self once again, customizing what she holds so close to her heat… a touch of heavy metal with a dash of rock-n-roll, and with her latest creation “Metal Yeti“, it’s every bit of metal! Created for the “Yetimeggedon” show at the Mothership Art Gallery in Philadelphia that is slated to open TOMORROW – January 21st, she customized one of her Megaseth resins to create a “Metal Yeti”. His bushy hair was a great start to a frozen furry beast. Such a great platform for a yeti… and we really dig that monochromatic color scheme! Be sure to head out to the show if you are a local, if not… pray to God this makes it in the online store after the opening, this is one sick looking figure!

‘YETIMAGEDON’ is upon us…

WOAH!!! A custom group show whose theme is Yeti’s?!?! Where is our invite 🙂 The folks over at Mothership Gallery have teamed up with DexDexign (who curated this show) to host an epic group show that is set to take place on January 21st, 2017! They cast a rad crew of international artists including: Igor Ventura, Gary Ham, Kong Andri, Jason Limon, Brent Nolasco, Nugglife, Yetis & Friends, Frank Montano, Tougui, Tomodachi Island, iBreakToys, Jellykoe, Misformadness, Playful Gorilla, 2oz, Newfren, and DexDexign… and we can’t wait to see what Yeti’s these talented folks bring to the table! More on this in the coming weeks, and look for teasers and reveals in the near future as well!
