MikeFX has teamed up with Playful Gorilla and the Mothership Art Gallery to host the “Who-R-U” custom group art show… and now, it’s not focused on the legendary band The Who… rather, a new blank figure from MikeFX. All of the fantastic pieces featured in this show are customs on Mike’s ‘WHO-R-U’ blank resin figure, a pretty amazing figure by itself, but what the artists did to this piece really make it shine.
The cast of characters includes: MIKEFX, ABSURD TOYS, RENONE, NAPTIME NOAH, BIGC, DR BARBADOS, PLAYFUL GORILLA, WASTED TALENT, MR MARS, OBSCURE, JAMS, NERVISWR3K, HUNGRYGHOST, RYAN BENITO SOTO, FETTUP TOYS, SHINOBI STINKS, BOY IN THE CORNER, SERG AND DESTROY, GOREILLA, RICH STROHMEYER, KINDNUGGETS, WIREWOLF, RICK SANS, TWENTY HEADS, THE 3D HERO, FIREHEAD DESIGNS, DADS CARTOONS, JOE WHITEFORD, BIZARRE O VISION, BROBOT TOYS, INPRIMEWETRUST, DERF BUNNY, THAT RED KID… yeah, talk about a ton of talent all under one roof! We have been following the progress of 2PetalRose’s “Kid Katana” and low and behold… the time is finally here, the release of these amazing figures! Digitally sculpted by Oasim Karmieh, the once 7″ tall figure was downsized to 3.5″ tall, and that is where he remained. After months of tweaking, printing, casting and painting… “Kid Katana” is ready to battle his way into your collections! “This journey begins at Capitol Point, a small underground bunker town on the outskirts of what used to be Tokyo city. Those that survived the last war were forced underground to escape being captured and enslaved by the Emperor. With very little entertainment, children are encouraged to train in the ancient art of the Samurai under the guidance of Master ZU. One katana wielding student they call “The Kid” is ready to fight back and free the slaves, but he can’t do it alone… He needs to assemble a team… of Renegade Knights.” The craftsmanship on these figures is some of the best work we have seen… but really, that’s no surprise coming from 2PR as they have always been amazing when it comes to quality!
This is a pre-order and they are set to be up for grabs this Monday the 28th of August at 8am PST via the 2PetalRose online store! Releasing as 2 editions, the “Original” and “Skull” edition are limited to 15 pieces of each and priced at £70($90) a pop. We have missed the work of Zombie King, but he’s back with a blast with his latest release – Aborto Trump. Making a political statement is tricky at the best of times and needs to be done with some thought and consideration. So when Zombie King wanted to make a statement about how the changes that the American president made him feel, he responded with his art.
So this little fella dropped through my door the other day and it’s an instant classic in my mind. The artist is making charitable donations to organisations whose plight he wanted to highlight every time someone buys one of the Aborto Trump figures. The work and thought that Zombie King puts into any of his pieces is always mind blowing, from the incredible detail on the actual figure sculpt to the hand finished adoption certificate that comes with these pieces. All of this artists work is very visceral and tactile, but also looks great when you leave it in the test tube and view from a distance – great work executed and finished with love and pride.
You can read more about the artists thoughts behind this release and the tie up with Mikeys Art Biz by going to his blog. There is a pin from Mikeys Art Biz you can also buy at the same time which will add to the level of donation the artists are able to make.
Initially there are only 20 of these available, so be quick if you want to buy from the initial release. Zombie King has said he will make more if the demand is there so don’t panic if you can’t grab any of the initial 20. Available to buy HERE at 4am PST time on Sunday 27th August.
What the What?!?! Yes… this figure has finally come to fruition as Jesse Hernandez shared today this sweet picture you see in this post… a beautiful clear resin OZOMAHTLI cast up by TaskOne of We Are Not Toys. We teased a post HERE back in April… and now we are seeing it all come together. 13 separate parts had to be cast for this, and it turned out so sick! Jesse mentions that this will see the light of day for Dcon 2017, so mark your calendars and get ready… this is one release you don’t want to miss!
The 1st series of the Samurai Apes 4″ resin figures from Jakarta based Precious Junkz will make its debut at STGCC 2017 this year… and yeah, they look quite fantastic! Featuring the first 3 characters (Demba, Netsu and Namue) of the series. They come in a box set (STGCC exclusive) or a single random pack. Look for the randomly inserted variant chase figure (1:3 in box set, or 1:8 ratio in packs). These wonderful looking figures, along with some other convention exclusives, can be picked up at their booth #AA14 during the convention!
“For once, Boreo clan was the oldest and the most respected among the nines. Driven by guilt and sorrow armed with the legendary Sibat, Namue is the last of his kind took the resignation journey across the land to found the purpose of his existence.”
“Only the bravest warrior can truly be deemed worthy of Futago, twin blades forged by the very first fire itself. Commanding and leads the fiercest warriors ever known, Netsu answers the call for battle under the banner of the Aka clan”
“Came from royal bloodline of the proud leaders of the Yara Clan, Demba took the responsibility to master the Iji regalia after the deceased of his father, and swore to protect the clan at all cost as the new clan leader”
London-based artist Seb Whatshisname once again partners with Mighty Jaxx on a new color of his roughly 7⅞-inch (20 cm) tall “POPek” sculpture, the pure “White Edition”! Coming in two parts, the Jeff Koons inspired main element and the small balloon that seeminly emerged from the canine’s posterior, these will debut at this year’s Singapore Toys, Games, and Comics Convention at Booth D3. Quantities will be limited, so make sure to show up early to ensure yourself a copy of this glorious work of art.
About two-and-a-half months ago, the husband-and-wife duo of Polish artists known as Katyushka Art Dolls introduced their “Baby-Shark” creation, a wall mount displayed, hand-painted resin bulbuous interpretation of the ‘lion of the sea’. Now they’ve returned this popular design with a second edition, this one on a standing mount. With the “Baby-Shark” itself measuring roughly 6-inches by 4-inches, those interesting in acquiring one of these toothy beauties can preorder their now from the Art Toy Gama store for $360, though only a maximum of 10 pieces will be made in this edition!
Last night, Scott Tolleson posted to his Instagram the photos that you see below with the caption “Drop off at the magic factory. #crackhead #whatsnext???“… and from the looks of it, this appears to be a larger version of his most recently released “Shard” Dunny. Now, how do we come to that assumption? If you look at the photo below, you can see in the bottom left hand corner it looks like Scott’s hand holding said Dunny… and if that’s the case, this is MUCH larger then his previously released 3″ SHARD. Also, from the back of the head, the cracks look much bigger and more defined then the previously released smaller version… now, this is only speculation on our part, and the header image above is a photoshopped version of his smaller 3″ design that we whipped together just for this post.
In any case… we are really excited to actually find out what this could be, and what size?!?! Is this an 8″ version or did Scott meet right in the middle with the newer 5″ size of this classic platform. More will be revealed in the near future, but at least we have this image to drool over until further info is released!
