EVOLUTION… that’s what was posted with this photo you see in this post, and thanks to Pobber Toys and FlabSlab, it appears that they will be bringing a new edition of their “Supreme Leader Lil’ Kimmy” bust to STGCC 2017! Standing proud, and very GREEN/GOLD, no word on what they have planned, but we do know these will be at the Pobber booth AA104,106 – so yeah, be sure to swing by! Capitalizing on the lifestyle brand ‘SUPREME’ along with North Korea’s dicktator, Kim Jong-un – the 2 have been mashed together to create this 9″ tall resin bust!
After a stunning debut release, illustrator Matt Gondek‘s “Deconstructed Homer” is back in its sculptural form, the iconic image of Homer Simpson melting and oozing away. Presented in a striking black “Night Moves Edition”, this impressive sized piece is 6-inches tall and 5-inches wide on all sides, it’s solid casting in high impact resin weighing a mammoth 11 pounds! Limited to an edition of 100 pieces, this new color version will be available tomorrow (Tuesday, August 1st, 2017) at 11am Pacific time for $169.99 apiece from producer Silent Stage Gallery‘s website, silentstagegallery.com.
While this is not necessarily a designer toy, we just can’t look past it and not think “How rad would this be if it was a designer toy“… haha, as is the case with pretty much anything and everything Alex Pardee creates. This go around, the talents of Greg Aronowitz are showcased as he is working on a mask for Alex… of Alex’s own MisterSpecter! We love seeing work in progress photos of sculpts, and this one in particular has so much life in it already at such a developmental stage… we can’t wait to see more!
After our initial teaser post HERE back in March of 2017, we are delighted to announce that the “Supreme Leader Lil’ Kimmy” bust collaboration between FLABSLAB and Pobber Toys is set to release HERE this coming Friday, June 16th at 7am PST! Standing proud, and very GOLD, these will retail for $300 a pop. Capitalizing on the lifestyle brand ‘SUPREME’ along with North Korea’s dicktator, Kim Jong-un – the 2 have been mashed together to create this 9″ tall bust! We are unsure on the type of material used (resin/vinyl)… but as the date draws closer, we are sure this info will emerge.
With what had to be some of the most outstanding work on any booth at the recent ToyCon UK 2017, the artist Marcos Lorenzo is here with another sublime release for his Obskure platform. This new version with white tones, blue eyes, and realistic red hair really stands out as an extremely strong piece of work.
In a limited series of 25 units, this resin toy is 170mm/6.7 inches high, painted with acrylics, tattooed with transfer techniques, white zipper and various attached rivets (plastic / metal) studs and spikes.
Marcos had the following to say about this release: “The aim of this work was to create a very luminous sculpture to let sunlight make it bright and play with shadows and soft edges, making it become alive with the contrasted orange tones and brighting studs but maintaining the inner dark spirit of the character. And that is because Sometimes darkness is just inside.“
This sculpture first appeared on Sunday 30th April at ToyCon UK and it is now seeing its world wide release. The “Obskure: White” limited edition is now available from the Some Strange Things store at the price of 100€. Be quick if you want this in your collection as this artists reputation is really gathering speed and this release will be just as popular as those before.
Japanese director Akira Kurosawa’s filmography is loaded with classic works, including The Hidden Fortress which served as inspiration for the original Star Wars as well as for Philippines-based artist Quiccs’s massive 10⅖-inch tall “The Ghost of Kurosawa” resin bust… and now the next iteration of this rad art collectible is upon us! Pictured above, the “43 Locusts” edition in all their camo goodness! “Inspired by the works and the tales of the lone warrior who battles the hive-minded machines, the 43 Locusts are comprised of rebels who dwell in the woodlands of one of the last left safe havens for humans who have trained themselves to fight for the cause of humanity’s survival against extinction. They have designed their armours to the same fashion as of Ghost of Kurosawa’s, and regard the warrior as a deity. The 43 Locusts are regarded to be one of the most skilled groups of human soldiers whom have independently fought against the hive-minded machines away from the efforts of the joint forces of other remaining Human colonies.” This bitchen looking edition will be available from FLABSLAB’s online shop HERE on April 22nd at 8pm PST for an undisclosed amount… but if history repeats itself, look for them to retail for around $300 apiece.
Japanese streetwear brand NEIGHBORHOOD have been diversifying their offering with cool art pieces as early as 2000, when they released their own canine-themed vinyl figures, so it shouldn’t be a complete surprise that part of their 2017 collection are some porcelain busts. Teased by company founder Takizawa Shinsuke on his Instagram, the pictured pieces are theoretically part of the brands Fall/Winter collection, twisted takes on the classic porcelain busts with a depiction of the current U.S. President, Donald Trump, shown dead center. With a base that reads “CASH FROM CHAOS”, I don’t think people have to contemplate that one too hard to comprehend the meaning…
Posted up HERE last August… a sweet little 3D render of a possible upcoming project collaboration from FLABSLAB and Pobber Toys, and today, we find out that the first – in hopefully many – “Supreme Leader” busts will soon be released. Capitalizing on the lifestyle brand ‘SUPREME’ along with North Korea’s dicktator, Kim Jong-un – the 2 have been mashed together in that bright green bust that you see above… tentatively titled “Supreme Leader Kimmy”! Standing 9″ tall, there are some small revisions to be made… and then this will see the light of day very soon. More details when we get them!
We’re told that “Lucy”, the previously teased resin bust Costa Rican brand Chunkee Studios, is “a lovely devilish girl on the inside”. Of course, she also a beauty on the outside… sculpted by brand owner and artist Cheungkinmen (a.k.a JOhnny), this new “Mininas” series of hand-painted resin busts will depict cartoony girls, like the sleek & slender “Lucy”, with possible future character being an astronaut, an alien, a cyborg, and an amazon. But, for now, let’s focus on the devil girl at hand! Given a wash of colors decorating it, conveying more of a painterly feel, it also softens the intentional roughness of the sculpt. Please follow Chunkee Studios on Facebook and Instagram for further updates, especially concerning when it will be available to buy from the brand’s online shop.
Following up their fantastic looking “Jiangshi: Putrefaction” release, Costa Rican brand Chunkee Studios, which was founded by owner and artist Cheungkinmen (a.k.a JOhnny), reveals a new artist series of sculptures that they’re working on. With the line titled “Mininas”, the Spanish word for a “female cat”, this line of resin busts will depict human females. Though based on the first pieces teaser, the below-pictured “Lucy”, I can see some cat-like aspects in her sleek & slender physique, eye shape, and even ear-like hair protrusions. We’re told that these hand-painted pieces are meant to convey more of a rough, painterly style and we can’t wait to see a finished piece revealed! Please follow Chunkee Studios on Facebook and Instagram for further updates.
