WHO-R-U? custom group show at Mothership Gallery!!!

MikeFX has teamed up with Playful Gorilla and the Mothership Art Gallery to host the “Who-R-U” custom group art show… and now, it’s not focused on the legendary band The Who… rather, a new blank figure from MikeFX. All of the fantastic pieces featured in  this show are customs on Mike’s ‘WHO-R-U’ blank resin figure, a pretty amazing figure by itself, but what the artists did to this piece really make it shine.

The cast of characters includes: MIKEFX, ABSURD TOYS, RENONE, NAPTIME NOAH, BIGC, DR BARBADOS, PLAYFUL GORILLA, WASTED TALENT, MR MARS, OBSCURE, JAMS, NERVISWR3K, HUNGRYGHOST, RYAN BENITO SOTO, FETTUP TOYS, SHINOBI STINKS, BOY IN THE CORNER, SERG AND DESTROY, GOREILLA, RICH STROHMEYER, KINDNUGGETS, WIREWOLF, RICK SANS, TWENTY HEADS, THE 3D HERO, FIREHEAD DESIGNS, DADS CARTOONS, JOE WHITEFORD, BIZARRE O VISION, BROBOT TOYS, INPRIMEWETRUST, DERF BUNNY, THAT RED KID… yeah, talk about a ton of talent all under one roof! This is going down tonight, Saturday, August 26th at Mothership Gallery in Philadelphia… be there or be square!

The Voltron Tribute Show “Wootron” Coming to the Woot Bear Gallery!

While most Americans might not recognize the TV show title Beast King GoLion, children of the ’80s will probably recall the heavily edited and re-assembled version of this Japanese animation, known here in the States as… Voltron! Featuring lion-shaped fighting robot starships that could merge into a giant Super Robot named Voltron, which the upcoming Wootron exhibition at San Francisco’s Woot Bear Gallery (1512 Haight Street) pays tribute to. With nine talented artists having been gathered from “various corners of the universe” to present their spin on this iconic series, pictured below are contributions by (clockwise): Jerome Lu, Zeb, HEALEYMADE, Scott Wilkowski, and Big C. Opening on Saturday, August 26th, 2017 from 6-9pm, those able to attend should go because, as Juelz Santana pointed out, “together we stand, divided we fall, united we form Voltron, and take on all”.

PHOTO RECAP: Clutter’s They Came from Planet Rainbow Sparkles!

The Clutter Magazine Gallery gave a thematic twist to their annual cute and colorful group show, this time giving colors to the artist to use prominently in their works. And the result is a rainbow-like array displayed across the gallery’s wall space! With some truly impressive, breath-taking contributions included, I was lucky enough to attend the opening night and write a full recap for the CoART Magazine site, which can be read HERE.

PHOTO RECAP: Josh Mahyem’s Solo Show at the Clutter Gallery!

Artist Josh Mayhem debuted his “Blown Away” concept at a Clutter Magazine Gallery event in 2014, so it only seems appropriate that this is also the location for his first solo exhibition, one that focuses on the “Blown Away” design. Displaying unique custom creations with sideways dripping resin adorning them, giving the impression of the piece being ‘blown away’ by the wind, Mayhem works his magic on Star Wars and Star Trek toys as well as figures by Coarse, Candie Bolton, Luke Chueh, KAWS, Ron English, Jason Freeny, and GOIN! I had the chance to attend the opening and do a full recap of it for the CoART Magazine site, which can be read HERE.
